Blocked account - simple and easy
If you come from a non-EU country and would like to study in Germany, you will probably need a blocked account. You can find out more about a blocked account and how to open it here:
How do I open a blocked account and how does it work?
Step 1: Gathering documents
To open a blocked account you will need your passport, letter of registration, confirmation of admission of study and a letter from the immigration office Nürnberg.
We will also need proof of where the money for the blocked account comes from, such as the account statement for the withdrawal.
Step 2: Transferring money
Once your documents are complete, the bank will proceed to open your account. One-off fees of 150 Euro will be charged for setting up the account. Once your account has been opened, you will receive your account details (IBAN and BIC numbers) instantly. Then you will have to deposit the required amount of 10.332 Euro for one academic year.
Step 3: Withdrawing money in Germany
861 Euro will get transfered automaticly to your current account per month.
Where do I open a blocked account?
You can open your blocked account at any branch of the Sparkasse Nürnberg.
